War in Ukraine might lead to Groningen gas extraction

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has put Nord Stream 2, the underwater natural gas pipeline from Russia to Germany, on hold. Gas prices are already skyrocketing and alternatives to Russian gas imports are scarce. If Europe faces a freezing end of winter, it is not unlikely that gas from Groningen will be extracted again, says professor energy economy Machiel Mulder to 9to5.
